Principal/Lead Teacher

Since I graduated with my undergrad in the spring of 1990 from Wartburg College in Wavery, Iowa, I have been in education.

In my first six years, I taught High School Biology/Chemistry and Environmental Science at Elgin High School in Elgin Il.  My husband and I moved to Green River, Wyoming, where I stayed until 2011, teaching 6-12 Mathematics and Science, then, after getting divorced, I met my current husband Dean and moved to Dickinson, ND, where I worked for three years exclusively in the Oil and Gas Industry before coming back to education.

The Alternative school setting has always been my passion as I worked in a School Within a School program in Elgin, at Expedition Academy High School in Green River WY, and now since 2014 here in Dickinson at SWCHS.  I believe that every kid deserves the chance to prove themselves – that doesn't always look the same for every student.  I believe in second chances and finding the goodness in everyone.

My husband Dean and I have four grown kids, two foster kids, and six grandchildren. We love running NSTRA dog field trials with our pointing dogs, and I show AQHA with my horses and raise a few colts every year.
