Frequently Asked Questions
There are five phases to a construction project; planning/design, pre-construction, procurement, construction and post-construction.
We are currently in the construction phase.
The new academic wing is scheduled to open in January 2027, giving students access to state-of-the-art classrooms and learning spaces.
Once the new wing is complete, the next phase of the project will begin. This phase includes an extensive remodel of the current office area, lunchroom, and the 1990s addition.
The project will add approximately 122,000 square feet of new construction to Dickinson High School. This expansion creates room for modern classrooms, collaborative spaces, and updated student facilities.
Much of the existing Dickinson High School will remain in use, with targeted areas undergoing significant remodeling.
In total, approximately 83,000 sqft of the existing building will be remain, with 40,000 sqft being remodeled and modernized.
Roughly 83,000 sqft will be demolished.
The current pod classrooms will be demolished once the new academic wing opens.
The current construction budget includes funds to reskin and repurpose the Yellow Building. The current plan is for it to become the new home for weights and conditioning, girls’ wrestling, facilities staff, and storage.
