Dear DPS Families,
I want to share an update regarding the email fraud incident that impacted our district earlier this year.
Today, the United States Attorney’s Office and the FBI announced that approximately $4.8 million connected to this case has been seized as part of an ongoing federal process. This represents significant progress in our efforts to recover those funds.
While this is encouraging news, the process is not complete. The funds will remain in federal custody until the legal process is finished, at which point they may be returned to the district.
These situations do not always end well. We are grateful for the quick action by our team and the incredible work of the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and our local law enforcement partners.
We will continue to share updates as appropriate.
