Welcome to Dickinson Public Schools

Welcome to the Dickinson Public School District, a growing school system in western North Dakota. Dickinson Public Schools has been serving the city of Dickinson and surrounding communities since 1893 and is the largest employer in the city of Dickinson, with almost 700 staff members providing services to over 4,400 students Pre-K-12.

Dickinson Public Schools (DPS) is committed to offering a diverse academic experience for all students through its Early Childhood Preschool, Roughrider Virtual Academies, Adult Learning Center, Southwest Community High School, Southwest Career & Technical Education Academy, and comprehensive elementary, middle and high school.  DPS provides a variety of classes, activities, and athletic programs to cater to the abilities and interests of all students.  Our goal is for all students to graduate Choice Ready with the knowledge, skills, and disposition to be successful.

Dickinson Public Schools District implements Dr. Robert Marzano's research of High Reliability Schools as a district and school improvement framework. 

DPS consists of thirteen schools governed by a board of five members:

  • 1 Alternative High School (Grades 9-12)
  • 1 Career & Technical Education Academy (9-12)
  • 1 Middle School (Grades 6-8)
  • 6 Elementary Schools (Grade K-5)
  • 2 Online Schools (K-8 & 9-12) 
  • 1 Early Childhood Preschool Program
