Building the Future: CTE Students Explore the TR Library Project

Students posing outside the TR Library

Our Southwest Area CTE Academy Construction & Architecture students had the incredible opportunity to tour the construction site of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, led by the talented team from JE Dunn Construction.

During their visit, the students:

  • Walked across the library’s earthen roof, which features over 130,000 native plants designed to blend seamlessly into the Badlands.
  • Learned how the project is working toward net-zero energy goals, using sustainable materials and innovative systems to honor Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation legacy.
  • Explored the engineering and design challenges behind building a structure that’s both modern and deeply connected to the landscape.
  • Discovered how the completed library will feature immersive storytelling, cutting-edge technology, and a first-of-its-kind digital library to bring Roosevelt’s life and legacy to new generations.

A huge thank you to JE Dunn Construction for welcoming our students and showing them how the power of architecture, construction, and innovation all come together to create not just a building, but a legacy.
