Dear DPS Families,
The students have spoken, and a new era begins.
After months of gathering input and two days of student voting, we are excited to announce the new nickname for Dickinson High School and Dickinson Middle School: Mavericks.
The term Maverick has multiple definitions, but for us, it represents the bold, independent spirit that defines Dickinson. Rooted in the frontier grit of western North Dakota, Mavericks are fearless leaders and unafraid to forge their path. They are driven by courage, powered by resilience, and united by purpose.
The Mavericks received 65% of the student vote, strongly supporting this new identity. Concept #2 was selected for the logo. We will work on the logo and branding over the summer as we bring this new identity to life across our school and community. We will share the finalized logo once it is complete.
Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, feedback, and encouragement during this process. We’re proud of where we have been, and even more excited about where we are going.
