The Dairyland Donkeys brought a unique twist to the DHS gym, hosting its second donkey basketball tournament to help support our local SWCTE SkillsUSA Chapter. Combining entertainment, the fundraiser drew large crowds eager to watch the action and contribute to the cause.
Four teams participated in this year’s donkey basketball competition, adding an exciting element of rivalry to the evening. Our four community teams were: Sanford, Ranger Energy, Gladstone Fire %20(1).jpg?mask=2)
Department and Knotty Hobby. In the first game Sanford triumphed over Ranger in their matchup, while in the second game Gladstone Fire Department emerged victorious against Knotty Hobby. The night ended with the championship game between Gladstone Fire Department and Sanford. The Gladstone Fire Department came out victorious against Sanford.
The exciting games kept spectators entertained and provided a memorable experience for all. Beyond the games, the SkillsUSA team demonstrated their commitment and skills by organizing additional fundraising activities. These included a 50/50 raffle, a fun “kiss the donkey”event and raffles for various student made projects. Cornhole boards were made by not only construction students, but health, welding, and engineering students who wanted to gain a different skill set. Students had to test their problem-solving and ingenuity skills to create these quality projects. The welding students created a horseshoe cross as well as a horseshoe boot rack to be raffled. The culinary students were in charge of the concessions. They created gourmet hot dogs,.jpg?mask=2)
including a German Dog, a Firecracker Dog, and a good old-fashioned Chili Dog. They used their creative skills for advertising and selling their delicious snacks.
Overall, the event showcased the dedication and teamwork of the SkillsUSA students while rallying the community to support their journey to state and national competitions. The combination of laughter, teamwork, and generosity made the evening a huge success.
