CTE in Memorial Hall

SkillsUSA Students with Governor Burgum

By: Courtney Sadowsky, CTE Health Science/AHA BLS Instructor DHS/RACTC

RACTC stands for Roughrider Area Career & Technical Center providing Health Science courses currently on site for Dickinson High School (DHS). We also have a separate chapter for Skills USA composed of DHS students enrolled in Health Science Courses. Two students in the RACTC SkillsUSA chapter are State Officers Charly Wyatt and Dezi Grinsteinner. We recently participated at the state capital for CTE in Memorial Hall on Monday, February 6th, with both DHS and RACTC chapters to promote all of our programs for Health Science, Trades, and Industry. Justin Wardell, Kate Enney, and Hunter Moreno are also State Officers from the DHS SkillsUSA Chapters.

The purpose of the event was to promote what we have to offer, and the achievements of our students enrolled in CTE and Career & Tech Student Organizations (CTSOs include FBLA, FFA, Skills USA, and TSA) with legislators firsthand. Students also had the opportunity to speak with Governor Burgum and Attorney General Wrigley. Advisors present for this event included Maggie Lehman/ DHS and Courtney Sadowsky/RACTC. Students used the Leadership and Communication skills they learned in the classroom along with being active members of SkillsUSA. Students are currently preparing for their state SkillsUSA competitions coming up on March 26th-28th in Wahpeton. Mrs. Lehman and Mrs. Sadowsky would like to thank the State CTE Director, Tracy Becker, for her hard work in making this event successful.
