October 20th was the regional after school program's 6th annual Lights on Afterschool Halloween party. Special thanks to Governor Doug Burgum who proclaimed October 20th, 2022 as Lights on Afterschool Day in North Dakota, stating "the citizens of North Dakota stand firmly committed to quality afterschool programs and opportunities to provide safe and engaging learning experiences for children, support working families, build stronger communities and engage families, schools and community partners in advancing the welfare of our children."

If you're wondering what Lights on Afterschool is, "According to the lights on afterschool network, Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating after school programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year." This year the regional after school program had many carnival games, including- giant tic tac toe, human bowling, corn hole, and spider ring toss! We had our haunted hall and served a hot dog dinner! All the kids left with A LOT of candy, so hopefully, they slept well for parents!

Another great highlight for afterschool programs is the empire state building illuminated the New York City skyline to celebrate 23 years of lights on afterschool! According to their Twitter, "Today and every day, we shine bright, bright light on millions of children served across our country by an afterschool program."
