The past four years have been a blast. They've gone by with the blink of an eye. It's hard to believe High School has come to an end for the great class of 2022. Through High School, there have been ups and downs, but it's all worked out in the grand scheme of things. In the beginning, I viewed High School as just another step I had to take to get where I needed to be in order to become successful in my future. It's turned out to be much more than that. Although it wasn't like High School Musical, as I had imagined it to be in Elementary school, it was filled with great memories and good times. I quickly learned to never underestimate what could happen within the classroom besides education.
Getting the most out of a day in school, in my opinion, is essential to an education. If you waste every day wanting to be done with High school, it will have passed you by, and you'll recall what you may have missed out on down the road. I would advise any student to take one day at a time and not to worry about the future (it's a waste of time). The future will come soon enough but living in the moment is what is important today. "This too shall pass" is a statement of the future that overlooks the present. Don't feel guilty if you don't know what to do with your life. Stressing about High School will get you nowhere! So much possibility lies before us, but the only way to get to it is by living today!
High school is more than just going to class and getting passing grades. It has provided me with many great experiences through classes, extracurriculars, and friendships. DHS students and staff have had a significant impact on my life which I will forever cherish and be grateful for. High school has acted as a stepping stone, and along with it came many great adventures. Now's the time to start chasing your wildest dreams. I never imagined the way 12 years in school could have gone by so fast. School came and went as a surprise, and by no means the way I had expected. High School was filled with many milestone moments and exciting memories. It has prepared me and provided me with what I need in order to do well later in life. Thank you, High School. I don't know where I'd be without you.
If I could leave any advice for underclassmen, it would be to enjoy every day, good or bad. You might just realize that you learn the most from the lessons that may never be used in real life. Having a positive attitude is absolutely necessary in High School. Your attitude can make or break your High School Career. Once I heard it only takes ten seconds for people to form a first impression, so have a good one. Take part in extracurriculars and do things outside of school. An education through experience will follow you wherever you go, whereas the quadratic formula may not. You'll meet others who share your interests and create lasting bonds. You'll learn which friends to keep around, and which to leave behind.
Senior year was filled with many bittersweet last moments and memories. High school is just a small part of your life that goes by quickly, it's not what defines you. Don't congratulate yourself too much, modesty is crucial. Be kind. You might just find the person next to you as your boss someday. Don't waste your time, it goes by faster than you would imagine. Take others' advice but stick to your guns. Your gut feeling is usually correct, but there's nothing wrong with taking an educated guess. Challenges don't last forever and can always be overcome. Failure leaves room for improvement. The end of one chapter marks the start of another. There'll come a day when you'll just have to move on and get over it. It's not the end of the world, it's just life. Looking down the road, you'll do just fine.
