Dr. Hocker’s Farewell

Superintendent Dr. Hocker Headshot

Written by: Dr. Shon Hocker - DPS Superintendent

With mixed emotions, I write this final farewell to all who have welcomed my family and me these past three years. As you likely know, I have accepted the superintendency in my home state of Idaho. I will begin a new adventure on July 1st as the superintendent of Coeur d’Alene Public Schools.

Those of you that know me well know how hard this decision was. Although I have only called Dickinson home for the past three years, I have felt embraced and supported by many of you. You have welcomed my family and made us feel part of the Dickinson community.  Dickinson will always hold a special place in my heart.

To the wonderful staff of Dickinson Public Schools, thank you.  It has been an honor getting to know you, and I walk away a better superintendent because of you and this experience.  Even in challenging times, there is so much positive work happening here.  We have successfully laid the groundwork for many years of continued success with all that you have done with the High Reliable Schools (HRS) focus, and students will truly be a benefactor of that. In addition, we have begun a partnership with the entire community with a strategic focus on enhancing opportunities for all of our students as well as our local business and industry.  I am confident that there are many great things to come for you all.

The future is bright for Dickinson.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shon Hocker

Superintendent
