Dickinson Public Schools School Counselor Mission Statement

Vision

All students in the Dickinson Public School District will have the academic, career, social, and emotional skills to reach their fullest potential to be college, career, and community ready.

Mission

The mission of the School Counseling Program is to provide services and support to all students for their lifelong success. Licensed School Counselors aim to empower all students to develop their academic, physical, social, personal, creative, and career potential.

Belief Statement

The Dickinson Public Schools K-12 school counseling program believes that school counseling is a fundamental part of the total school program and complements learning in the classroom. Every student has the right to a comprehensive school counseling program. Services are student-centered, proactive, and developmental. Counselors promote positive intellectual, behavioral, and emotional growth. The counseling program offers individual sessions, group sessions, classroom guidance lessons, academic and career readiness, and post-secondary placement testing. The school counseling program consults and collaborates with parents, teachers, and other professionals in the community, when appropriate, to ensure the best opportunities for the students. School Counseling services are intended to enhance the potential for success of all students.
