Meet Mrs. Streeter – Principal of Jefferson Elementary

Welcome to Jefferson Elementary! I’m Mrs. Sara Streeter, and I am honored to serve as the principal of our amazing school. With over 20+ years of experience in education—and more than a decade proudly leading Jefferson—I remain passionate about creating a school where every child is known, supported, and challenged to succeed.

I believe that all children can learn at high levels. With hard work, perseverance, and a nurturing environment, each student can grow both academically and as a compassionate, responsible world citizen. At Jefferson, we know that a positive atmosphere and strong partnerships among staff, students, and families are the keys to success. Teamwork is the heart of our school’s mission, and together, we can help every child reach their full potential.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Dakota, followed by advanced studies in Language Arts and Reading Recovery, and a Master’s Degree in Education. I later completed my Educational Leadership certification through Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Before becoming a principal, I taught kindergarten and first grade in Grand Forks, ND, and served as a Title I/Reading Recovery teacher. I was proud to support early literacy efforts across the district, most recently as a Reading Recovery teacher and instructional leader at Wilder Elementary. My work has always focused on increasing student achievement through research-based instruction and multi-tiered systems of support.

As a very visible and involved principal, one of my favorite parts of each day is being with students—giving high-fives as students enter the school each morning, in classrooms, hallways, and throughout our building. I look forward to building strong connections with each Jefferson student and family. My door is always open, and I encourage open communication as we work together to make Jefferson a joyful, safe, and successful place to learn.  We are so excited for you and your family to become a part of our Jefferson Tommie Family!
