Students at Heart River Elementary completed an inquiry research unit on Westward Expansion. The inquiry design helped students make real-world connections by exploring and engaging in high-level thinking about a topic they found interesting.
As the class learned about events together, students had the opportunity to dig deeper into historical events and perspectives during the Westward Expansion. Students used library databases and other resources to complete an informational writing piece, and then they showcased their learning through game boards or cartoon projects.
