Computer Coding Camp for Girls June  3rd-7th 2024

Women Empowering Women and the Roughrider Area Career & Technology Center are offering a one-week Coding Camp for Girls from June 3rd through the 7th at the Dickinson Middle School. The class will be held from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm each day. The camp is open to students entering 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in the fall. The camp is FREE to attend, lunch and snacks are provided. Registration is limited to 12 students so please register soon.

The camp is completely funded by a grant through Career and Technical Education and funds raised by Women Empowering Women donated by local and area businesses. Each student who completes the camp will keep the following products:

The Love to Code (LTC) system from Chibitronics. It is designed for beginners of all ages and backgrounds to try out programming without the frustration of installing software. Bring life to your Chibi Lights LED stickers by making them blink and fade. Add light and interactivity to your greeting cards and projects by connecting switches and sensors to your Chibi Chip!

Playground Express Board from Adafruit. Used to build projects with our most flexible Circuit Playground board, with support for MakeCode, CircuitPython, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 Neopixels, a mini-speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion, and sound.
