ND DOT Proposal to Remove Traffic Signals

Picture of Berg Elementary and the traffic light

Dear Families,

We are writing to inform you about a proposed project by the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) that will affect our school community.

The NDDOT, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, is considering significant alterations to ND Highway 22 (South Main Avenue/ 3rd Avenue West) in Dickinson. Of particular concern to us are the following proposals:

  • Removal of Traffic Signal & Installation of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at 3rd Street West
  • Removal of Traffic Signal at 4th Street West

These proposed changes could have profound implications for the safety and well-being of our students. The installation of the RRFB at 3rd Street West, while aimed at improving traffic flow, raises serious concerns about pedestrian safety, especially for our young students at Berg Elementary commuting to and from school.

We invite you to share your comments at the Public Input Meeting on Thursday, February 15, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Professional Learning Lab.

We encourage you to share your comments about this project using this Google Form or email Chris Dahl at chris.dahl@bolton-menk.com

There is a pre-recording of the meeting you can watch here.

Thank you,

Marcus Lewton
