Frequently Asked Questions
Parents/Guardians should:
- complete the K-8 Roughrider Virtual Academy's Student Readiness Screener.
- receive contact from a staff member to discuss the results of the screener and determine next steps. (If the learner meets elibility requirements, and there is room currently in the program, enrollment will be granted with a start date of the following semester.)
- finalize the enrollment paperwork placement process with the Central Administrative Office. (If the learner is currently enrolled in a DPS face-to-face setting, an Official Transfer Request must be completed.)
- participate in a face-to-face onboarding training in conjunction with their learner.
Our physical location is Dickinson Middle School where we have our own classroom and meeting space for face-to-face activities.
We have face-to-face theme days throughout the year for learners to participate in. These days are typically centered around a character strength from our Positivity Project work. Learners have the opportunity to complete a variety of activities. These days typically happen on the first Wednesday of the month, and run from 9:00-11:30.
In the past, some of our theme day activities have included: Art, Health, STEM, Literacy, Math, Games, Guest Speakers, Ice Skating, and more. Most sessions are for learners only, but we do invite the entire family in for some. See the annual specific session dates on our "Upcoming Events" website calendar.
