Volunteer Opportunities

The Early Childhood Center offers volunteer opportunities to parents/guardian, and the general community. Training is provided and volunteers also sign a Confidentiality Agreement. Volunteering is an important part of our program and is a benefit to children as well as enhancing parent involvement and community support. Volunteer time is needed to make up the 20% match required for Federal dollars received for Head Start funding.

There are many different ways of volunteering such as:

Assisting in the classroom
Bus supervising
Assisting with nutrition responsibilities
Helping staff with special projects
Volunteering on a committee
Working on site as a TANF recipient
School and/or college related practicum and internships
Provide training for staff and parents/guardians
Sponsoring a fund raising event
Making a donation
Helping with recruitment and public relations

Volunteer Cooking Club

With our new and more nutritional menus we would like to start a volunteer cooking club.  This would give our new menu a huge boost.  Our Dietician, Suzie’s goal is to get away from using all processed and most frozen foods and go with more fresh and whole products.  When we do something like this it takes a lot more time and people in the preparation.  With volunteers it gives people in our community a chance to gain volunteer hours to apply to their resumes, or just get together with a group of friends to do something they love to do, cook!  We ask that if you are interested or know someone that may be interested to contact me.  Please see the flyer with my contact information.  Some areas we may need volunteers are in the classrooms helping with our “Nutritional Experiences” where the children explorer with food creations, baking homemade breads, crusts, noodles, and helping us clean, chop, and prepare our fresh fruits and vegetables   for our daily meals.

Thank you for everything you do to make our Head Start/ Early Head Start programs a success for the children and I look forward to seeing some of you in our kitchens and classrooms!
